His work has appeared in Best American Nonrequired Reading 2012. In 2013 Marra received the prestigious Whiting Writers’ Award. His debut novel is entitled A Constellation of Vital Phenomena (2013). His story “Chechnya” won First Place in Narrative’s Spring 2009 Story Contest and has received many prizes since then.
